Parke County Civil Docket Searches
Start your docket search at MyCase / Odyssey Public Access. A case-number lookup is the most precise route. No number? Use the Name tab with a surname and first name, or try the business-name field. Pick Parke County as the court, then choose Civil, Family, or Probate for the matter. Status and file-date filters help trim a long list of results. Check the court, case type, filing date, and case style before you open a summary.
The clerk's office is the local channel for the official file. The Parke County Clerk handles copies, certifications, filings, payments, and balance confirmations for Parke Circuit Court cases. You can contact the clerk's office or use its counter procedure. The Parke Circuit Court answers courtroom and scheduling questions. The court reporter handles transcripts. Agency APRA and bulk-data forms cover different records. For one civil case, they do not replace the local clerk.
- Open MyCase and choose Case or Name.
- Enter the known number, party name, or business name without adding unneeded fields.
- Set the court to Parke County and select the best category.
- Compare the result's type, file date, status, and case style before opening it.
- Read the CCS and document list, then ask the Parke Clerk for any required copy or certification.
Read Parke Civil Docket Codes
A Parke civil case number usually looks like 61C01-YYMM-TYPE-SEQ. The "61" marks Parke County. "C01" points to Parke Circuit Court, and the middle letters show the filing group. Indiana Administrative Rule 8 lists the codes, including CT for civil tort, EV for eviction, PL for plenary civil, and SC for small claims. Probate groups cover estate, guardianship, and trust codes. The portal's full case-type description beats any guessed abbreviation, so rely on it.
- CCS
- The Chronological Case Summary, or dated event history, not the full file.
- SC
- Small claims, still searched through the Parke County case route.
- EV
- An eviction case code within the civil category.
- ES, GU, and TR
- Examples of estate, guardianship, and trust coding in the probate group.
A code guarantees nothing about remote access to documents. It does not reveal the outcome either. Open the case summary, read the type label, and follow the CCS entries through to the order or judgment that resolves the dispute.
Civil Dockets: What They Show
A Parke County civil docket can show the case header, the parties and their roles, file and status dates, related-case references, and a running list of CCS entries. Those events may name complaints, petitions, answers, service, motions, notices, hearings, orders, judgments, fee entries, and appeal activity. A public document link sometimes sits beside an event. When it is missing, that only means the document is not available through that view.
| Case Number | The Parke court prefix, filing period, type, and sequence, such as 61C01-YYMM-PL-####. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Plaintiffs, defendants, petitioners, respondents, or other roles, subject to redaction and access limits. |
| Filings | Dated CCS notices of petitions, answers, appearances, exhibits, and other submissions. |
| Motions | A request filed with the court; a later order shows whether and how it was decided. |
| Judgment | The final order, dismissal, default, or other disposition when entered by the court. |
Financial entries may list charges, payments, credits, or a balance when enabled. They can be incomplete. The clerk's official account controls the real numbers. The same caution fits pleadings: a CCS line names an event, while the case file holds the document itself.
Parke Civil Docket Versus File
Treating the event line as the pleading is a classic search mistake. A Parke CCS entry may say a complaint, motion, or proof of service was filed. It may also say an order was filed. You get the date and event text. You do not necessarily see every page, exhibit, signature, or finding behind it. MyCase document coverage also varies by category. It varies by access level too.
| Record | Best Use | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Public CCS | Track the order of filings, hearings, and rulings | MyCase |
| Case document | Read the actual pleading or signed order | MyCase when linked, otherwise Parke Clerk |
| Certified copy | Obtain a clerk-authenticated copy for an official purpose | Parke County Clerk |
| Transcript | Review the spoken court proceeding when available | Court reporter |
For a focused request, give the case number, the exact event, the document date, and the party role if known. Say whether you want an ordinary or certified copy. Naming the item, whether a pleading, order, exhibit, audio, or transcript, helps the request reach the right custodian.
What Cases Fill the Civil Docket
Parke Circuit Court is the county's single identified trial court, and it takes a wide civil mix. Public access and procedure hinge on the case group. MyCase splits matters into Civil, Family, and Probate categories. A Civil-only docket search can therefore miss a public case filed under another heading.
- Contract, debt, business, administrative, and other general civil proceedings.
- Property, mortgage, eviction, collection, and related real-estate disputes.
- Tort claims and other plenary civil actions.
- Small claims filed under the SC case type.
- Family, estate, guardianship, and trust matters where public access is allowed.
Family and probate headers, and some CCS entries, may be public while child, medical, financial, inventory, accounting, custody-evaluation, protected-person, or adoption material stays restricted. A visible title does not permit any inference about custody, capacity, or what a sealed document contains.
Parke Civil Docket Judge Rotation
Parke Local Rule 6 runs a civil special-judge rotation across Judicial District 11. That process sometimes applies. When it does, the caption and later filings name the special judge as the rule requires. The assignment is procedural only. It says nothing about which side prevailed. It does not explain why a claim was filed, or whether the case has closed.
This local rule explains why the judge listed in a Parke civil docket may differ from the usual Parke Circuit Court assignment. Keep searching under Parke County and the same case number. Check later CCS entries for settings and signed orders. Do not assume the case moved to a separate county portal.
Note: A special-judge entry changes the assigned judicial officer. It does not change the identity of the Parke case record.
Hearings on the Civil Docket
A civil hearing entry on a Parke County court docket can carry a date, time, judge, location, setting type, and result. Some entries carry less. Parke Local Rule 3.1 requires a trial or evidentiary request to say whether it seeks a jury trial, bench trial, final hearing, or fact-finding, and to include a good-faith time estimate after consultation. That rule helps explain a pattern many readers notice. The request, the scheduling step, and the final setting each appear as separate CCS events on the docket.
A motion to continue is not a new date. It is only a request. Under Local Rule 4.1, the motion must state the reason, any prior requests, notice to opposing counsel, the affected date and time, and an estimated duration. The judge still has to rule. Watch for a later order and a new setting, then confirm it with the court. The Parke County court schedule offers date-search routes for that step.
Check the latest order. A filed motion does not itself cancel a hearing. Use the most recent CCS setting and contact Parke Circuit Court when the date is unclear.
Parke Civil Docket Family Limits
Family cases sit in the Family category when they are publicly searchable. The documents behind them are harder to reach. Indiana's court-record rules shield many child, medical, financial, custody-evaluation, parenting-coordinator, guardian ad litem, and CASA materials. Adoption proceedings are confidential. So a Parke County case header can appear on the docket. Major filings may stay closed to view.
Probate access works much the same way. It carries limits on inventories, accountings, protected persons, and financial details. Ask only for the specific public order or decree you need. For a certified decree, give the Parke Clerk the case number and the exact document. The clerk can tell you whether access, identification, authorization, redaction, or a court order applies.
Who Can See Civil Dockets
Who gets to see a Parke County civil docket? Two layers of law answer that. Indiana's Access to Public Records Act supplies the general public-record framework. The Indiana Rules on Access to Court Records govern court files and electronic access. Public CCS entries never override a statute, rule, or sealing order. Rule 5 lists what stays confidential: certain case types, personal identifiers, medical records, privileged and in-camera filings, custody reports, and other excluded content. Rule 6 builds a verified process for extraordinary restriction. It demands the least restrictive relief supported by the required showing.
The Indiana Access to Public Records Act anchors the access framework. The official source linked here shows the statute applied when a request is weighed.
For a Parke case file, the local Clerk of the Parke Circuit Court is the office to contact. The state agency's request form does not take its place.
Key Rules:
Indiana Code 5-14-3 provides the general state public-records framework.
Access to Court Records Rule 5 identifies cases, documents, and data excluded from public access.
Access to Court Records Rule 6 governs verified requests for extraordinary restriction.
Request Parke Civil Docket Copies
Need an official copy of a Parke County civil record? Ask the Parke County Clerk for certification. Give the complete case number, the document name, and its filing or order date. Say whether you want inspection, an ordinary copy, or a certified copy. Add your delivery choice. Ask about current copy, certification, and postage charges before sending payment.
MyCase searching is generally free. State clerk material lists general copy and seal amounts. But county ordinances and specific schedules can change fees, so treat those statewide numbers as no Parke price at all. The Parke Clerk posts no full local fee schedule. It guarantees no completion time. Ask directly for the current fee and a completion estimate.
